2012 IP Publicity Week Kicks Off in Beijing

  Upon celebrating the 12th  World IP Day, the publicity week of 2012 World IP Day in China kicks off at Science and Technology Museum on Apr. 22. Representatives from the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), The Propaganda Department of CPC, State Administration of Industry and Commerce, etc attended the launching ceremony.

  Tian Lipu, commissioner of SIPO delivered speech and declared the ceremony open. Francis Gurry, Director General of WIPO sent congratulations speaking highly of the IP undertaking in China for the past three decades.

  "Over the past year, China's IP implementation and innovation-oriented nation building have been deepened. The twelfth five-year plan of IP has been preliminarily formed. In the future, we have to grasp the new need of economic development for IP, promote the IP culture and IP system in China. It is necessary and urgent to combine IP and the traditional culture of China" Tian said.

  Commissioner Tian Lipu and Tao Xinliang, director of IP department of Shanghai University made speeches at the IP Culture Talk Sessions, talking about IP culture & nnovation-oriented nation building and role of IP in the modern life respectively.

  The theme of the IP publicity week is cultivating IP culture and promoting social innovation, according to SIPO. Aimed at raising people's IP awareness annd protecting IP and innnovation, the publicity week will be launched around 31 provinces and cities in China from Apr.20 to 26. (reported by Li Yanan)
