Legislators expect non-government groups, including companies, institutions and NGOs, to join forces in preserving the city's intangible cultural heritage. From Sept 26 to 28, the Standing Committee of the Beijing People's Congress reviewed a draft regulation on the capital's intangible cultural heritage, which allows qualified nongovernmental groups to apply for the status of heritage protectors. The move will encourage more companies to develop tourism products based on cultural resources, explore a sustainable path toward heritage preservation and relieve the pressure on government to finance projects, experts said.
